Los Angeles has one major airport, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles. But given the size of the city, there are multiple other airports that may work depending on what area you are visiting. Long Beach (LAB), Hollywood-Burbank (BUR), Orange County (SNA), or Ontario (ONT) are all options that will get you to the Los Angeles area. Each airport offers a variety of car rental options. The LA area also has a very large Metro system with busses and trains. Check out their Metro Trip Planner to find your best options for getting into and around town.
Getting around town? Utilize the public buses and subway, or rideshare companies. If you are driving yourself, factor in time for the legendary LA traffic! Your best bet is to pick a hotel that is near the attractions you want to see and head out earlier than what you would think.
Los Angeles has wonderful, temperate California weather. Lots of year-round sunshine and little rain keep people flocking to the sunshine state. September has the highest temperatures, while December and January are the coldest and wettest. If you're heading to the beach, it's always a good idea to pack light layers as it can get chilly and breezy at night.
